With the cold weather hitting many of us, those dreaded sore throats are popping up everywhere. Both John David and I have been sick this past week, and before that it was my husband. It’s one of those things that you almost can’t escape, but at least when you find yourself with a sore throat you can turn to Pine Bros. Throat Drops. Originally invented in 1870 by good ‘ole J. Herman Pine, the Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops are like none you’ve ever tried. Since 1870, the company and original recipe have been bought and sold over and over again, falling from mass market. But with a loyal fan base and a relaunch last fall, they are making a comeback! Have you heard of Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops?  Until recently, I hadn’t but these throat drops are fast becoming a family favorite.  As you can imagine with a family of our size, especially during the winter months, someone is bound to have a sore throat or two.The Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops are just that, softish.  They aren’t hard like a traditional throat drop we are used to using.  When I first heard they were softish, I instantly thought of a gummy candy and wondered how they would last to satisfy my throat irritation.  Turns out they aren’t like a gummy at all and are the perfect softness to last and be effective.Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops come in four yummy flavors:  Natural Honey, Wild Cherry, Lemon Citrus and Licorice.   We tried the Natural Honey and the Wild Cherry.  The Wild Cherry is the hands down winner in our family.  The twins described the Wild Cherry flavor like eating a cherry Popsicle.  My son loves the Pine Bros. Softish Throat drops.  He took them to school and let his friends try them, who all raved about them. How nice to find an effective throat drop the kids won’t complain about using and I don’t have to worry about what they are consuming because they are made with the soothing natural qualities of glycerin and the healing properties of gum acacia.Much softer than traditional throat lozenges, the Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops use a combination of all natural glycerin and gum acacia for a straight from nature relief for sore throat. Safe for ages 3 and up, these drops feature a ‘softish’ texture that feels great in your mouth. Not to mention their all natural taste is fantastic! We received some of both the Wild Cherry and Natural Honey flavored throat drops, and we can’t decide which is our favorite. You can find all natural (made in the USA) Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops in two flavors – Wild Cherry and Natural Honey – with two more flavors coming soon – Licorice and Lemon Citrus. Pucks and Bags are available in-store and online at stores such as CVS and Walgreens, varying in price depending on where you purchase them. You can purchase the all natural throat drops online at www.pinebrothers.com – 3 bags for $10.47 or 3 pucks for $8.97. Find a retailer. Be sure to visit the Pine Bros. Facebook page, and follow @PineBros on Twitter for news and updates!

Uses: For temporary relief of minor discomfort and protection of irritated areas in sore mouth and sore throat.

Interesting side note:  My son has Tourette’s Syndrome.  One of his ticks is throat clearing. I noticed when he sucks on these throat drops, he clears his throat less often.  This is a huge thing for him and probably one of the reasons he loves them so much.

We give Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops two thumbs up!

About Pine Brothers:

Way back in 1870, J. Herman Pine and his brother introduced what they called Pine Brothers Glycerin Tablets.  In an attempt to relieve his own sore throat and those of his family members, Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, determined that by combining the soothing natural qualities of glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia, he could sooth and mitigate the mild discomfort of a sore throat. Add in some natural flavoring and a sweetener and voila, Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops were born.

Pine Brothers was eventually sold to Life Savers and then resold numerous times throughout the years until the company was taken over by 3 Sisters Home Products who has spent countless hours locating the original Pine Brothers recipes, redesigning the packaging, and creating an exciting yet classic new look. You can purchase Pine Bros. on their site or you can find is sold at CVS, Walgreens or at many of your local drug and food stores.
