She's Got Issues DVD Curriculum Review

Christian counselor, ministry leader, and regular mom Nicole Unice shines on video in this inspiring seven-session She’s Got Issues DVD Curriculum—perfect for churches and small groups. As she does in the book, Nicole talks candidly about how the everyday issues that drive you crazy affect you . . . and why you don’t have to settle for letting them win. Some days living up to the whole good-Christian image seems impossible. You do the right things (well, most of the time), but you just don’t feel changed by your faith. Deep down, you’re still dealing with the ordinary struggles—control, insecurity, comparison, fear, anger, and unforgiveness—that hold you back from living free and loving well. The good news? You don’t have to “fix” yourself. You have access to the power of Christ. His power can transform your everyday weaknesses into your greatest strengths and gifts. (Curriculum includes leader’s guide and group handouts.) What are your biggest challenges?
Do you have issues?
How do others see you?
How do you see yourself?
This book focuses in depth on 5 main issues that most women struggle with, along with helpful suggestions and explainations written in a counselor's voice. Women's stories and authors included are brought into the chapters to show how others can identify with the issues being presented and what they have gone through. Also how Jesus fits into all of our issues and challenges (short comings). Included are personal assessments and self evaluation questions with group answers, prayers and topics for group discussions.

The target audience is women. Some chapters I was able to relate to, others not so much. Each reader can pick and choose which issues, or all of them, she feels needs addressing in her life. The assessment questions were beneficial in addressing my issues. I found this to be a very faith inspiring book and would recommend this book to others.
“Our ordinary issues may seem so commonplace that we stay blind to the truth of our own condition” (She’s Got Issues, pg. 9).
One common topic Unice keeps asking the reader is if they have ever experienced someone who seemed “infused by God” (pg. 32), or knew anyone who experienced a real change through a relationship with Jesus (pg. 18). For me, this was a sad question because the answer…was me. I had once been infused by God. Fifteen years ago I was on fire for Jesus! I was vibrant, alive, unafraid, confident, and bold in my faith. I had a whole new outlook on life that was joyful and hope filled. But over the years I lost all of that. Life got in my way, and circumstances put a wedge between me and God.
“Every issue I struggled with…the internal twisting of my own heart, the self-focused wrestling that kept me bound and loveless, came into focus… I knew in the deepest part of my soul that this could not be the ‘life to the full’ that Jesus promised… Because if Jesus is who He says He is, then my existence as a pretty-nice Christian living like everyone else seemed like a mockery of faith” (pg. xiii) . The everyday stuff that drives you crazy . . . is about to transform your life.
