Mothers Against Drunk Driving
Mothers Against Drunk Driving has programs and activities to prevent underage drinking, starting with the Power of Parents program sponsored by Nationwide Insurance . To help you get started, they have designated April 21st as PowerTalk 21® day. It's a day for parents, kids and communities can take positive steps to open communications using the Power of Parents program and work together to end underage drinking.
Since nearly three out of four kids say their parents are the leading influence on their decisions about drinking, MADD helps mothers like us put that influence to work by offering a research-based handbook for talking with teens about alcohol.
Another way to show your awareness is to donate with MADD! Click here to find out a free way you can share with all your friends and family!

While We are all confident that We've raised great kids who will make smart decisions, We also know that the statistics are too shocking to ignore; teen alcohol use kills about 6,000 people a year, more than all other illegal drugs combined. Not only that, car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, and more than one out of three of those are alcohol-related. And finally one that surprised me the most-one in five teens binge drinks, yet only one in 100 parents think their kids binge drinks.
Since nearly three out of four kids say their parents are the leading influence on their decisions about drinking, MADD helps mothers like us put that influence to work by offering a research-based handbook for talking with teens about alcohol. I encourage you to download it here; I know I did!

MADD is one of my favorite organizations out there. To this day I still remember the programs that came to our high school educating us about drunk driving.
ReplyDeleteIt impacted me. But the reality is that these accidents occur all the time. :/ thanks for sharing.
I am def against drunk driving! My mother was an alcoholic that was almost always drunk when she drove. It was not fun at all growing up with an alcoholic parent but I learned to deal with it and vowed to never be that way. Thanks for sharing! Btw, I liked you on FB

DeleteYou have no idea how appropriate this post is for me! My oldest son will get his drivers license in just a couple of weeks. We have always stressed no drinking and driving. I like to think that he will make the right choices but now that he is a teenager, others can influence him just as much. Thanks for the links and info!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through the blogger comment club - thanks for letting me visit.
There are many advertisements going on to make people not to drive while drunk. MADD is one of my fav organizations. Like you posted about MADD.
ReplyDeleteMADD is a great organization. My cousin was killed by a drunk driver, so this is a subject that is very close to my heart.
ReplyDeleteDrunk driving is a dangerous but so is texting, which is killing and maiming more people than alcohol. Believe it or not!
ReplyDeleteImportant message. Will definitely talk to my girls about it when they are older! (Should include texting while driving too!) :)

That's a good news! With this program, we can help our kids to avoid drinking alcohol while driving. We can't completely prevent them to, but the fact that we advice them not to drink can eventually change their mind.
